Meet Alissa LeCompte

“I love motivating others to be a better version of themselves through the power of movement”

With three years experience as a Y fitness instructor, Alissa specializes in high-energy classes like BodyCombat and BodyPump. She was initially inspired to teach by her love for BodyCombat, appreciating how it encourages participants to push their limits and tap into their internal strength. She measures success by the confidence boost her members achieve, encouraging all newcomers to show up and stay consistent.

What was your initial motivation for becoming a fitness instructor?
I absolutely love BodyCombat! The way it unleashes your inner fight and gets you to push through when the workout feels hard.
What's your favorite aspect of teaching fitness classes?

Motivating others to be a better version of themselves through the power of mixed martial arts inspired movement.

Fun and motivational!
 
How do you measure the success of your fitness classes?
If everyone leaves feeling more confident through the power of mixed martial arts inspired workout then I have done my job!
How does teaching group-ex classes impact your own fitness journey?
I get to meet new people and lead them through an awesome workout! All they have to do is show up and I can take it from there giving them a strong workout. It’s a very fulfilling job for the soul!
What's some advice you would give to a new class participant?
Stay consistent and show up on the hard days. The first few classes may feel overwhelming with all the new terms/moves but it gets easier every time you show up, I promise!
Tell us about a highlight moment in your fitness instructor journey.
Just overall feeling more and more confident on stage with a microphone in front of people. I started out so shy and just feeling the difference from now to 3 years ago is an amazing personal transformation.
What's a fun fact about you?
A lot of people don’t know this about me but I love to line dance!
