Sports

The Y is the starting point for many youth to learn about becoming and staying active, and developing healthy habits they will carry with them throughout their lives. The benefits are far greater than just physical health. Along with improving health, whenever teamwork is involved, there's the added benefit of being connected to others. That's why you'll find a range of recreational activities at the Y. With something to offer everyone, there's no such thing as being too old to get in the game.

The Goal of YMCA Youth Sports

Welcome to the Fox Valley Family YMCA Fall Basketball League! We are looking forward to a great season. The goals for the YMCA sports programs are to develop self-confidence and self-respect in children and an appreciation of their own worth as individuals. We encourage you to set a positive environment for your child and the rest of the children in Youth Sports. Our character shows in our behavior, how we practice values, forgiveness, hard work, sportsmanship, perseverance, compassion, respect, responsibility, generosity, and honesty. The YMCA practices these values and develops them in others. There are no try-outs or cuts at the YMCA. Everyone is a valuable member of the team, and players share playing time equally.

COVID Additions & Precautions

• Athletes and coaches are required to wear face masks during practice and in all areas of the Y when arriving and leaving. All parents/guests must be wearing face masks in the building at all times.

This is a non-contact Intra-Team league with a focus on skill development. Therefore, there will be no games scheduled.

• Parents/guests will not be allowed in the gym during practice.

• Practices will overlap, so participants must have masks on after practice when interacting with others who are from a different team.

• Equipment is sanitized at the beginning and end of every practice for the safety of all. If you feel more comfortable you are able to bring your own basketball to practice.

• Once practice is over, the gym is closed and players must vacate the gym. There will be no after practice shooting allowed.

Parents are an important part of Youth Sports

Parents are encouraged to be more than mere spectators by contributing their time as volunteer coaches and team parents as well as being their kid’s greatest fan. It is our social responsibility to help children enjoy and learn all of the benefits of a quality youth sports program. Our programs are successful due to volunteer coaches. Any parent/guardian who volunteers will receive a youth sports voucher. If you’re interested in volunteering, please let us know!
